Marko Kobal

About Mark

Baritone Marko Kobal is the champion of the Ljubljana Opera, where he has been a soloist since 1994. He was born in Mali Polje near Ajdovščina. He was educated at the International Singing School (Prof. Marjana Lipovšek, Prof. Alfred Burgstaller), at the Secondary Music and Ballet School (Prof. Marko Bajuk) and at the opera studio with Professor Alenka Dernač Bunta.

He made his debut as Germont in La Traviata in 1994. He sang many leading and title baritone roles: Rigoletto (Rigoletto), Renato (Dance in the Masks), Germont (La Traviata), Marcel (La boheme), Sharpless (Madame Butterfly), Belcore (Ljubezenski potion), Lescaut (Manon), Prince Jelecki (Queen of Spades), Marco (Gianni Schicchi), Herman (Hoffmann's Tales), Knight (Ksenia), Count Luna (Troubadur), St. Brioche (The Merry Widow), Nabucco (Nabucco), Tonio, Taddeo (The Actors), Alfio (Cavaleria rusticana), Miller (Luisa Miller), Scarpia (Tosca), Lovra (The Mountain Nightingale), the Third Servant (The Black Masks), Morales ( Carmen), Krušina (Sold Bride), Zsupan (Gypsy Baron), Maurevert (Huguenots), Forester (Rusalka), Fiorello (Barber of Seville), Amonastro (Aida), Leander (In Love with Three Oranges), Gerard (Andre Chenier), Prince Igor (Prince Igor), Lscaut (Manon Lescaut), Dobrovik (Mountain Rose), King, Flood Man (Three Musicians), Poljanec (Tičnik), Consul (Pirates of Pezance), Assan (Consul), Dwarf (Snow White) , The Messenger (Oedipus Rex), The Singer (Capital of Love).

He toured in Split, Zagreb and Maribor, collaborated with various domestic and foreign orchestras and recorded CDs. In 2006, he received the title of opera champion.
