Klemen Torkar

About Klemen

Tenor Klemen Torkar completed his singing studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with prof. Matjaž Robavs and prof. Piji Brodnik. For the role of Orpheus in Monteverdi's opera of the same name, he received the Prešeren Award from the Academy of Sciences in Ljubljana. At SNG Maribor, he performed in the opera The Coronation of Popeye (C. Monteverdi), in the role of the Puss in Boots (C. Cui: Puss in Boots) and in the roles of Priest and Armorer in Mozart's Magic Flute. He performed in the SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana in the role of Shepherd in the opera of the same name by P. Šavlij. 

Under the auspices of SKGG, he appeared in the following roles: Hero (T. Svete: Hero of Our Time), Judge (Ch. W. Gluck: The Deceived Judge), Wolf (C. Cui: The Red Riding Hood), Marquis di Conchiglia (N. Piccini: La Cecchina), Uberto (GB Pergolesi/N. Milčinski: Rehearsal for the opera Master's Maid), Vladimir (T. Svete: Ada) and as Bastien (WA Mozart: Bastien and Bastiena). At TEMSIG in 2013, he took the highest ranking in the highest category. The most important concert performances are the tenor solo in Carl Orff's Carmina burana, a concert of opera arias under the direction of Marko Letonja, a solo recital in the Knights' Hall of the Križanka in Ljubljana, and a guest appearance in Monteverdi's Večernica of the Blessed Virgin in Berlin.
