Franc Rizmal

About Franco

Franc Rizmal graduated as a violinist in 1976 from the University of Vienna and as a conductor in 1983 from the University of Graz and trained in Salzburg, Berlin, Mörzzuschlag, Lugano, Moscow and Eisenstadt. 

First, he was the first violinist of the Slovenian Philharmonic and the Radio Orchestra, then the conductor of the orchestra and the choir and a professor at the High School of Music in Ljubljana. In 1996, he founded the Slovenian Army Orchestra as conductor and artistic director, which he led until 2000, after which he took over the position of conductor and artistic director of the Slovenian Police Orchestra. 

Since 2004, he has been a professor of chamber music at the High School of Music in Ljubljana. As a solo violinist and conductor, he performed and recorded at home (Slovenian Philharmonic, Radio Slovenia Symphony and Chamber Orchestra) and abroad (Canada, Taiwan Chamber Orchestra, Wiener Akademie, Aula Classica, etc.). and foreign juries and received several awards (Savin's award, recognition of the city of Žalec and the Musical Youth of Slovenia).
